Managing the Safety of Medical Personnel During Radiological Procedures

Where should I wear the personal dosimeter (glass badge)?

Men should attach the personal dosimeter on the chest area and women on the abdomen area.

To determine the exposure dose for the whole body based on the dose level at the measurement point, women should attach the dosimeter on their abdomen, near their ovaries.

That is the standard dosimeter position. Then put on the protective clothing over that, after the dosimeter has been attached. If the job requires putting on protective clothing frequently, attach an additional dosimeter outside the protective clothing, preferably near the neck. The additional dosimeter is used to more accurately estimate the exposure dose to the skin, eyes, and other areas not covered by the protective clothing. If high exposure levels are expected on the hands or fingers, wear a ring-type dosimeter on a finger.
