Managing the Safety of Medical Personnel During Radiological Procedures

What type of examination causes the highest radiation exposure to medical personnel?

Examinations that involve being in the examination room during CT scans or other radiation emissions

Remaining in the examination room to perform a medical procedure during exposures increases the exposure dose to medical personnel.

CT scans use the highest radiation exposure doses per unit time. Both IVR radiography and fluoroscopy procedures use lower dose levels than CT, with IVR radiography about 1/10 the level of CT and IVR fluoroscopy about 1/100 the level of CT.

Keep in mind that the higher the anatomical detail level of images, such as in CT scans, the higher the radiation levels generally used, which means countermeasures should be implemented accordingly, such as by wearing protective clothing and using shorter exposure times.
