Managing the Safety of Medical Personnel During Radiological Procedures

Should I wear protective clothing?

Always wear protective clothing whenever you enter the examination room.

Protective clothing is able to block about 90 % of the scattered radiation emitted from the patient during fluoroscopy. As a rule, radiation should only be used under the supervision of a radiation manager. The view that you do not need protective clothing, because you are not worried about radiation exposure, ignores radiation management practices and is not acceptable in terms of radiation safety either.
